Naver Clip
How an agent uploads a vertical video to Naver Clip through uplika: the browser extension it needs, the clip profile the person makes first, the category, hashtags and the difference between a private clip and a draft.
Quick reference
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
characters | text | 300 |
images | media | not supported; a video with images attached goes out as the video alone, with a warning |
carousel | media | not supported |
video | media | 1 per post |
text alone | media | media required |
posts / 24h | limit | 20 |
deletes / 24h | limit | Naver Clip deletion is not offered yet; delete the clip in Clip Creators |
status | state | soon |
These numbers come from the same file the server validates against. A clip is one video; Naver Clip takes no photos and no text-only posts. The description counts UTF-16 units, so an emoji outside the basic plane counts as two, and Naver cuts anything past the limit without a word, so uplika refuses it first.
What does Naver Clip need?
Naver Clip has no official upload API. Like Naver Blog, a clip is uploaded by the uplika browser extension (Chrome, Edge or Whale) in the person's own browser, from Naver Clip Creators, through the Naver account they connected. It needs extension version 0.7.32 or later and the Naver permission the extension asks for. The person must already have a Naver Clip profile on that Naver account: uplika does not create one, because making a profile is a sign-up on Naver's side.
How do I post my first clip?
Upload a vertical video, read naverClip.categories for the account from list_accounts, then publish with the media id and a categoryId. Call bridge_status first: while the browser with the extension is closed the clip waits in the queue.
curl -X POST https://api.uplika.com/v1/posts \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $UPLIKA_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"content": "Evening walk in the park",
"accountIds": ["conn_..."],
"mediaIds": ["med_..."],
"options": { "naver_clip": { "categoryId": "169", "tags": ["walk", "park"], "visibility": "public" } }
}'What options.naver_clip takes
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
tags | string[] | Up to 5 hashtags without the # sign. Naver Clip has no separate tag field: they are appended to the description as #tag, so the description plus tags must stay within 300 characters, and #words you already wrote in the description count toward the 5. |
categoryId | string | Required. A category id from naverClip.categories in list_accounts (Naver Clip categories have two levels and the id is the second-level one). Give this or category (the name); there is no default. |
category | string | The category name instead of its id, exactly as it appears in naverClip.categories from list_accounts (the main and sub category names joined with ›). (API only; the dashboard does not draw it.) |
visibility | public | private | public (default) or private (only the account owner can see it). A private clip is still posted. |
aiGenerated | boolean | Turn on Naver Clip's AI-use label. An attached video marked aiGenerated turns this on automatically unless you set it to false. |
adDisclosure | boolean | Turn on the ad and sponsorship label (paid promotion, sponsorship or PPL). A legal statement, so set it yourself. |
disableComments | boolean | Turn comments off for this clip. Comments are allowed by default. |
draftOnly | boolean | Upload and save it as a draft in Naver Clip Creators instead of posting. The person finishes it there. Different from visibility private, which posts the clip where only the owner sees it, and from draft on the post, which keeps the whole post on uplika. |
content | string | Text for this channel only. When set it replaces the shared content for this channel, and the length and media checks use it. Leave it out to use the shared content. |
Generated from the same schema the server validates with. Naver Clip has no separate hashtag field: tags are appended to the description as #tag, and #words you already wrote count toward the 5.
Private clip or draft?
visibility private posts the clip so only the account owner sees it. draftOnly uploads the video and leaves it as a draft in Naver Clip Creators > Content; nothing is posted until the person finishes it there. draft on the post is different again: it keeps the whole post on uplika without uploading anything.
What is not available yet?
This first version only posts clips. Reading a clip back, listing, editing, deleting, metrics and comments are refused with a clear reason; do them in Naver Clip Creators. Cover images, music, places, playlists and Naver's own scheduling are not offered; schedule with scheduledAt on the post instead.
Frequently asked
Why does it say the Naver account has no clip profile?
A Naver account has no Naver Clip profile until the person creates one in Naver Clip Creators. Create it there, then connect Naver Clip again from Connections.
How do I know the clip really went up?
After pressing Post the extension reads the clip list again and only reports success when that video is there, once. If it is not found the post fails with clip_unconfirmed: check Clip Creators > Content before sending it again.
Can a Naver Blog and a Naver Clip use different Naver accounts?
Yes. Both come from the same list of Naver accounts in the extension, and each workspace holds one Naver Blog and one Naver Clip. They can be the same Naver login or different ones.
