How uplika compares

Social media MCP servers, compared

Hosted MCP servers that let an AI agent post to social media, side by side: channels, how the agent signs in, free tier and price, read off each product's public pages.

What to compare

  1. Channels that publish today

Count what publishes now. Some lists include channels that are still in review or in beta.

  2. How the agent signs in

With OAuth and dynamic client registration the agent registers itself and you approve it in the browser. With an API key you paste a secret into the agent's settings.

  3. What the price counts

Connected accounts, profiles, channels, workspaces or plan tiers. The same monthly number buys different things.

  4. Whether you can run it yourself

Only open-source code can run on your own server.

Each server

Listed alphabetically. We do not rank them: the right one depends on which channels you need and how your agent signs in.

Ayrshare

In their words: "Unified Social Media API for Apps, Platforms, and AI Agents"

Ayrshare has no free tier; the entry plan is a 28-day trial and then $149 a month for one social profile. Its MCP server authenticates with the same API key the REST API uses, passed as a bearer header. Ours issues a token through an OAuth authorization server instead, so nothing is pasted into the agent. You may see Ayrshare quoted at $49 a month elsewhere, including one of Upload-Post's pages; we cite the $149 on Ayrshare's own pricing page.

Blotato

In their words: "Social Media Automation Inside ChatGPT & Claude"

Blotato is the name you meet most often in lists of social media MCP servers, many of them on its own blog. It has no permanent free plan: every plan starts with a 7-day trial, and Starter is $29 a month with a cap of 20 social accounts. Its hosted MCP server accepts OAuth or an API key; the docs do not describe dynamic client registration. Its homepage says the MCP needs no auth headers while its docs describe an API key header, so we cite the docs. We leave its tool count unconfirmed because its own tool list does not add up to its headings.

Buffer

In their words: "Your social media workspace"

Buffer is a scheduling app first. It keeps a free plan (3 channels, 10 scheduled posts each) and prices paid plans per channel, from $5 a month billed yearly. Its developer docs say the hosted MCP server takes an API key in an Authorization header; a Buffer article describes OAuth, so we cite the docs and note the difference. The docs give no channel count; 12 is the list on its homepage and pricing page.

Postiz

In their words: "The ultimate agentic social media scheduling tool"

Postiz is the only one here you can run yourself. It is AGPL-3.0 and the project states there is currently no feature difference between the hosted and self-hosted versions, though the cloud plans cap connected channels and self-hosting does not. Its MCP server exposes thirteen tools to agents and accepts an API key or an OAuth token, but it publishes no OAuth discovery metadata, so an agent cannot register itself the way it does with ours. Its homepage counts 30+ channels and its documentation 34; we cite the documentation figure.

uplika

uplika is a hosted MCP server and REST API. Threads, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Bluesky, Telegram publish today; Naver Blog publishes through a Chrome extension in your own browser; TikTok is in platform review. Agents sign in with OAuth and register themselves, so nothing is pasted. We list fewer channels than every other product here.

Upload-Post

In their words: "Publish videos, photos, text and documents to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), Threads, Pinterest, Reddit, Bluesky, Discord, Telegram and Google Business Profile with a single REST call."

Upload-Post keeps a permanent free tier (10 uploads a month, no card) and prices paid plans by profile, from $24 a month. Its Claude page says the hosted MCP server signs in with OAuth, its llms.txt says API key or OAuth, and its MCP repository uses an API key, so we list both. Its own pages give 22 platforms, 14 (MCP repository) or name 13 (docs), and 50 or 58 tools; we cite 22 and 50, the figures it states most often. The MCP server code is MIT-licensed; the service itself is not stated as open source.

zernio

In their words: "The social media and messaging API for developers and AI agents."

zernio is the closest to us in shape: usage-based per connected account, free for the first two, and a hosted MCP server that accepts OAuth. It is also listed in the official MCP registry. Its own pages count its channels as 14, 15 and 16 in different places and its tool count as 280+ or 496, so we cite the documentation figure and note the disagreement rather than picking one.

Questions

What is a social media MCP server?

An MCP server that gives an AI agent such as Claude or ChatGPT tools to publish to social accounts a person has connected, and usually to read replies and metrics back. The agent calls the tools; the server talks to each platform's API.

Which social media MCP servers let an agent sign in without an API key?

Any server that accepts OAuth. As their docs state it: OAuth only, uplika; API key or OAuth, Blotato, Postiz, Upload-Post, zernio; API key only, Ayrshare, Buffer. Whether the agent can also register itself without a pre-shared client varies, and each server's notes above say what we found.

Which ones have a free plan?

A permanent free plan, not a trial: Buffer, uplika, Upload-Post, zernio. Trial or paid only: Ayrshare, Blotato, Postiz.

Can I self-host a social media MCP server?

Open source according to their pages: Postiz (AGPL-3.0), Upload-Post (MIT (MCP server only)). The rest do not say their code is open.
