Post to social media from ChatGPT

ChatGPT can post to Instagram, Threads, YouTube through uplika, a hosted MCP server. How to connect it, what to ask it, and what each channel allows.

Yes, with one extra step for now. Once uplika is added as an app in developer mode, ChatGPT can publish to Threads, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Bluesky, Telegram, Naver Blog, answer replies and read how posts did. Until uplika is listed in ChatGPT's app directory, developer mode is the way in. It signs in with OAuth, so there is no API key to paste.

uplika
A hosted MCP server and REST API that lets an AI agent publish to the social accounts a person has connected, and read replies and metrics back.

How to connect ChatGPT

  1. Turn on developer mode

In ChatGPT: Settings → Security and login → Developer mode. ChatGPT marks it as elevated risk because OpenAI has not reviewed the connector yet.

  2. Create the app

Plugins → Add plugin (+) → Create app → Create MCP App. Name it uplika, paste this address as the Server URL, keep OAuth, tick "I understand and want to continue" and press Create.

  3. Approve and start publishing

Confirm the permissions in the browser and allow. In a new chat, type @uplika and ask which channels are connected.

What you can ask ChatGPT to do

You sayWhat happens
Post this photo to Instagram and Threads with the caption "Opening day."The image is uploaded once and published to both. Asked to wait, the agent comes back with both links once they are live.
Upload this video to YouTube as unlisted, titled "Launch walkthrough."The file goes to YouTube with the title and visibility you asked for.
Schedule this for 9am tomorrow on Facebook.uplika's server holds the post and sends it at that time, even if the chat is closed.
Reply to the new comments on my last Threads post.It reads the replies under the post and answers them on the channel.
How did yesterday's posts do?It reads views, likes and replies where the platform exposes them.

Anything that goes out in public acts on your own accounts. The server tells agents to confirm the text and the channels with you first.

Questions

Can ChatGPT post to Instagram?

Yes, through uplika. ChatGPT has no posting access of its own. With uplika added as an app in developer mode, ChatGPT calls uplika's tools and uplika posts to the Instagram account you connected.

Does it work on the free ChatGPT plan?

Yes. We ran publishing, replies and deletion from a Free plan account in developer mode. Add the app once on the web and it works in the ChatGPT mobile app too.

Why does ChatGPT call developer mode elevated risk?

Because OpenAI has not reviewed the connector yet.

Do I paste an API key into ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT registers itself with uplika's OAuth server and you approve it in the browser. API keys are only for calling the REST API directly.
