Post to social media from Codex
Codex can post to Instagram, Threads, YouTube through uplika, a hosted MCP server. How to connect it, what to ask it, and what each channel allows.
Yes. Once uplika is added as an MCP server, Codex can publish to Threads, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Bluesky, Telegram, Naver Blog, answer replies and read how posts did. You do not edit its settings yourself: paste the prompt below and Codex adds the server, then opens an approval screen in your browser. There is no API key to paste.
- uplika
- A hosted MCP server and REST API that lets an AI agent publish to the social accounts a person has connected, and read replies and metrics back.
How to connect Codex
Paste this into Codex
The agent adds the server and walks you through auth.
Approve and start publishing
Allow it on the approval screen that opens in your browser. Run codex mcp list and uplika shows up with OAuth.
Set up uplika so I can post to social media from right here. 1. Add this HTTP MCP server at user (global) scope, so it works in every project and not just this folder: codex mcp add uplika --url https://api.uplika.com/mcp 2. When the approval screen opens in my browser, walk me through clicking Allow to finish. 3. Then list my connected social accounts so we can confirm it worked. Tell me when it's done.
What you can ask Codex to do
| You say | What happens |
|---|---|
| Post this photo to Instagram and Threads with the caption "Opening day." | The image is uploaded once and published to both. Asked to wait, the agent comes back with both links once they are live. |
| Upload this video to YouTube as unlisted, titled "Launch walkthrough." | The file goes to YouTube with the title and visibility you asked for. |
| Schedule this for 9am tomorrow on Facebook. | uplika's server holds the post and sends it at that time, even if the chat is closed. |
| Reply to the new comments on my last Threads post. | It reads the replies under the post and answers them on the channel. |
| How did yesterday's posts do? | It reads views, likes and replies where the platform exposes them. |
Anything that goes out in public acts on your own accounts. The server tells agents to confirm the text and the channels with you first.

Questions
Do I need to run codex mcp login?
No. codex mcp add with --url reads the server's details and opens the browser for approval by itself. codex mcp login is for reconnecting later if the approval was revoked.
Do I paste an API key into Codex?
No. Codex registers itself with uplika's OAuth server and you approve it in the browser. API keys are only for calling the REST API directly.
